50+ Partnership
The Blackburn with Darwen 50+ Partnership (formerly the Older Peoples Partnership) is a thematic sub group of the Blackburn with Darwen Local Strategic Partnership. The Partnership has responsibility for developing and implementing the local Older People's Strategy and Action Plan and for monitoring the National Service Framework for Older People.
Age Concern Blackburn with Darwen is responsible for co-ordinating the Partnership and for ensuring that it works effectively to meet the needs of local older people.
The Older People's Strategy is a wide ranging document covering all aspects of the lives of older people – housing, leisure, education, work, transport, health and social care. It aims to remind local service commissioners and providers of the role older people play in society, the contribution they make and the needs they have.
The National Service Framework for Older People sets out 10 programmes relating to health and social care, with targets for local services.

Partnership Panel
In order to ensure that it's activities are a reflection of the views and needs of local older people the Partnership has established a Panel of 500 older people from across the Borough which acts as a reference group for it's work. Older Peoples Strategy & Action Plan .jpg)
During the summer of 2007 over 500 local older people provided feedback as to what issues are important to them and what priorities the Partnership and the Strategy should have. The Blackburn with Darwen Older People's Strategy was formally launched on 26th November 2007, when almost 100 local older people and professionals attended an event to begin the Action Planning process. An annual action plan has been in place since then. A review process will begin in Autumn 2009 to update the Strategy. Please let us have your comments.
