Do you have equity tied up in your property that you would like to use to make home improvements, go on that holiday of a lifetime, simply help you to manage with the cost of living, or even help a family member onto the property ladder? What affect has the Credit Crunch had, and how will the recent house price drop affect how much you could release?
Age Concern would like to invite you to come along to our FREE seminar on 15th September 2010 at Whalley Village Hall, Whalley.

Pakistan Floods Appeal

Many people are having to shelter on the roofs of their houses, and in trees. The flood waters have washed away thousands of acres of crops, government buildings, schools, markets, bridges, railway tracks and homes. The emergency response will be targeted at the most vulnerable older people and their families in Nowsheria district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. As the flood waters continue to rise, disease is now a big worry. "We estimate that about 100,000 people have been hit by cholera and gastro diseases," said Syed Zahir Ali Shah, health minister for affected area Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa.

Appeal for old foreign cash

We are appealing for people to donate any old or unwanted foreign coins or notes. In particular we are looking for currency that is no longer valid since the Euro was introduced. We can turn this unusable, unwanted currency into real cash to support the provision of our services to local older people. So why not have a root around at the back of drawers and cupboards to see what’s lying around?

Last year we had 2 tombolas during our Age Concern Week for the first time ever, raising over _500 between them! Generating that amount of money was all down to the wonderful gifts that are donated to us by people like yourselves. So please look into your cupboards and drawers as there may be the odd gift that you didn’t really want but didn’t know what to do with.
