Age Concern Blackburn with Darwen provides the following services to local older people within the Borough of Blackburn with Darwen:

Advice and Information Service – Through our offices in Blackburn and Darwen we can provide free, confidential and independent advice and information to older people and their carers on a range of issues – including benefits and pensions, community care and housing – in fact, any problem facing older people. | ||

Ageing Well Project – This Project aims to support and encourage older people to improve their health and well being through the provision of a range of activities. Current sessions include swimming, walking, Nintendo Wii sessions, dancing, bowling and a variety of exercise sessions. We also provide one-to-one or group computer tuition mobile phone sessions, a Nintendo DS loan scheme, and through this Project are currently delivering a range of free courses for the over 50's. | ||

Care Network – is a service which provides access to a range of reliable, quality assured and affordable practical help services to help people remain independent at home. Current services include cleaning, gardening, shopping and a range of home maintenance and repair services. | ||

Care Services – our two day care centres Spring Bank Court and Apna Ghar, along with our befriending service the Caring Neighbourhood Scheme, offer services and support to the most frail and vulnerable older people. | ||

Charity Shop – Situated in Darwen town centre our charity shop sells a wide range of good quality second hand clothing for all the family, bric a brac, collectibles and books. We are now also able to receive donations of small electrical goods and have our own ebay shop - 'Soldforold01'. | ||

Trading Products and Services – Age Concern Enterprises offers a range of products and services designed with the needs of the over 50's in mind. It arranges insurance through a network of Appointed Representatives operating from around 300 local Age Concerns across the UK. |
