Advice and Information Service

Through our offices in Blackburn and Darwen we can provide free, confidential and independent advice and information to older people and their carers on a range of issues – including benefits and pensions, community care and housing – in fact, any problem facing older people.  A wide range of leaflets, factsheets and booklets are also available. All advice is free, confidential and independent. During the last year we have dealt with over 8430 enquiries and helped local older people to claim in excess of £1.55 million in extra benefits that they were entitled to - and we could also help you.

The service holds a Communuty Legal Services Quality Mark which ensures that we provide a high quality service.

Can We Help You?

We are now also delivering our Can We Help You Service which offers a comprehensive assessment of all a person's needs, wishes and views; providing advice, assistance and referrals to help find solutions but also recording needs that are not currently being met by existing services and the reasons why.  Can We Help You will then collate all these issues which will be used to influence service development and delivery.  Can We Help You is currently available in Darwen and South West Blackburn but will be rolled out across the Borough.
